Cultural Affairs Commission’s Concert Series and JazzReggae Festival are teaming up to bring you an opportunity to perform in front of 12,000 people at JazzReggae Festival! Win the chance to share the stage with the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Erykah Badu, Damian Marley, The Roots, and more! Here’s how it works: CAC Concert Series and JazzReggae Festival will choose 8 bands to perform at the Kerckhoff Coffee House on either Monday, April 16 (week 3) or Monday, April 23 (week 4). Four bands will perform on each one of those nights. After all 8 bands have performed, we will post videos of each band’s performance on the Facebook pages for CAC Concert Series, JazzReggae Festival, and Cultural Affairs Commission. The band that has a combination of the most “likes” on their video, the highest audience attendance at the Kerckhoff concerts, and is the most qualified for the festival will fill the opening slot at Jam Day. The winning band will also perform a show at Bruin Plaza! To enter, submit the name of your band and samples of your music to concert@culturalaffairsla.com. The samples can be submitted in either mp3 format or videos. For all entries, at least half of the band members must be current UCLA students. The band must be a jazz and/or reggae band (please do not submit other genres of music). The CAC Concert Series and JazzReggae Festival will ultimately choose the winning act by taking into consideration the Facebook video likes and the Kerckhoff concert attendance and performance. The deadline for entry is Sunday, March 25th at 5:00PM. We will notify the top 8 bands by Sunday, April 1st. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Don’t miss out:

FREE PETITION TO MAKE UCLA A FAIR TRADE UNIVERSITY
As our world and specifically our country engages more and more with the global community it is our role as Americans to ensure the equality of every global citizen. The President’s office is excited to support UCLA in pursuing Fair Trade products as a defining feature of the products offered here at UCLA. Many of the products we use everyday including coffee, sugar, and chocolate have a long history of being outsourced in a way that is detrimental to both our environment and the treatment of individuals across the globe. A product that is Fair Trade certified ensures that the farming practices are sustainable and the people working in these fields are given normal working hours and fair wages for their work. Not only that but the Fair Trade movement has seen less child labor and more women being given an education all over the world. Please consider signing this online petition and partnering with us as we encourage UCLA in becoming a Fair Trade University ensuring that Fair Trade products are offered all over campus!
